Itinerary
Day 1: ADDIS ABABA
Arrival in Addis Ababa and city tour of the capital.
Day 2: DEBRE LIBANOS
Day excursion to impressive Debre Libanos Monastery, beautiful mountain and countryside scenery, Jemma Valley
Day 3: AWASH NATIONAL PARK
Drive to the Awash National park with stops at one of the crater lakes in Bishoftu and Metahara.
Day 4: BIRDING IN THE AWASH NATIONAL PARK
Full day birding in the Awash National Park where you will also see some animals and the hot springs.
Day 5: RIFT VALLEY LAKES
Drive to the Rift Valley Lakes region with stops at the Awash river wetlands, Koka dam and Lake Ziway. Overnight Ziway.
Day 6: ABIJATA AND SHALLA NATIONAL PARK
Morning drive to the Abijata and Shalla National park for birding and afternoon birding around Lake Langano.
Day 7: GAYSAY PLATEAU AND DINSHO
Morning drive to the Bale Mountains National park. Spend some time at the Gaysay plateau and Dinsho to see some interesting birds and animals. Hotel in Goba or Dinsho
Day 8: SANETI PLATEAU AND THE HARENA FOREST
Excursion to the Saneti plateau and the Harena forest to see the Ethiopian Wolf and some interesting birdlife. Hotel in Goba or lodge in the Harena forest.
Day 9: SHASHEMENE, WONDOGENET
Morning spend some time around Dinsho befoe you drive back to Shashemene for lunch. Afternoon drive to Wondogenet where you will have a birding hike in the forest.
Day 10: LAKE HAWASSA
Early morning drive to Hawassa to attend the daily fish market on the shores of Lake Hawassa where you will also see some interesting birdlife. Afternoon drive back to Addis through the 12th C Stelea field at Tiya. Evening departure back home.
