Wasama is one of the high-altitude trekking areas encountered on multi-day hiking routes through Bale Mountains National Park.

The route towards Wasama passes through open mountain landscapes, river valleys and increasingly high Afro-alpine terrain, providing excellent opportunities for wilderness trekking, birdwatching and wildlife observation.

Trekkers in the wider Bale Mountains can experience elevations above 4,000 metres, where the landscape becomes dominated by moorland, giant lobelias and volcanic peaks.

Wasama is commonly included on longer routes connecting Dinsho, Finch Habera and Garba Guracha.
