Fasilides Castle (Fasil Ghebbi)

Fasil Ghebbi, often called Gondar’s Royal Enclosure, is one of Ethiopia’s most important historical complexes.

The fortified compound contains castles and other buildings associated with Emperor Fasilides and later rulers of the Gondarine period.

Fasil Ghebbi is a UNESCO World Heritage property and forms the centrepiece of most Gondar city tours.

Visitors can combine the Royal Enclosure with Debre Birhan Selassie Church, Fasilides’ Bath and other historic attractions.
