Debark – Gateway to the Simien Mountains

Debark is the principal gateway town for many journeys into Simien Mountains National Park. Travellers arriving from Gondar generally pass through Debark before continuing towards trekking areas such as Sankaber and the highlands beyond.

The town plays an important logistical role for Simien Mountains expeditions and is a useful point for completing arrangements before entering the park.

For most visitors, Debark is not the main destination itself but an essential part of a wider Simien Mountains journey.
