Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Addis Ababa
Arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and meet your guide.
Transfer to your hotel.
Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a city tour visiting selected attractions such as the National Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Entoto or other sites.
If you arrive late, the remainder of the day can be used for rest before the northern Ethiopia journey begins.
Overnight: Addis Ababa
Day 2 – Addis Ababa → Aksum
Take a morning domestic flight from Addis Ababa to Aksum.
After arrival, begin exploring one of Ethiopia’s most important ancient cities.
Visit the famous Aksum stelae field and learn about the monuments associated with the ancient Aksumite civilization.
Continue to important archaeological and historical sites in and around the city.
Visit the Church of St. Mary of Zion area, one of Ethiopia’s most significant religious sites.
Depending on available time and access, additional visits may include ancient tombs, archaeological remains and historic monuments.
Overnight: Aksum
Day 3 – Aksum → Lalibela
Transfer to Aksum Airport for the flight to Lalibela.
Upon arrival, meet your local guide and begin exploring the extraordinary rock-hewn churches for which Lalibela is internationally known.
The churches are carved directly from the surrounding rock and remain active places of worship.
Spend the afternoon visiting one of the principal church groups and learning about their architecture, symbolism and religious importance.

Day 4 – Lalibela Churches & Asheton Maryam Excursion
Continue exploring Lalibela’s rock-hewn church complexes in the morning.
Visit additional churches, passages and trenches while learning about the history and living religious traditions of the town.
Later, take an excursion towards Asheton Maryam, located in the mountains overlooking Lalibela.
Depending on your preference and current arrangements, part of the route may be completed on foot or with locally available mule assistance.
The excursion offers impressive views across the surrounding highlands.
Return to Lalibela for the evening.
Overnight: Lalibela
Day 5 – Lalibela → Gondar
Transfer to the airport for the journey towards Gondar according to the available domestic flight schedule and confirmed itinerary.
After arrival in Gondar, begin exploring the former imperial capital.
Visit the Fasil Ghebbi Royal Enclosure, home to castles and historical structures associated with Ethiopian emperors of the Gondarine period.
Continue to Debre Birhan Selassie Church, renowned for its historic paintings and distinctive interior.
Depending on time, visit Fasilides’ Bath or other historic sites.
Overnight: Gondar
Day 6 – Gondar → Bahir Dar → Lake Tana
After breakfast, drive from Gondar to Bahir Dar through the highland countryside.
Arrive in Bahir Dar and check into your hotel.
In the afternoon, take a boat trip on Lake Tana, Ethiopia’s largest lake.
Visit selected historic monasteries located on islands or peninsulas around the lake.
Your guide will explain the religious history, paintings, manuscripts and traditions associated with the monasteries that are accessible during your visit.
Return to Bahir Dar in the late afternoon.
Overnight: Bahir Dar
Day 7 – Blue Nile Falls & Bahir Dar
After breakfast, drive outside Bahir Dar towards the Blue Nile Falls.
Walk to selected viewpoints and experience one of Ethiopia’s best-known natural attractions.
The appearance and volume of the falls vary considerably according to season and water conditions.
Return to Bahir Dar later in the day.
Depending on time, explore the city, visit a local market or enjoy a viewpoint overlooking Lake Tana and the Blue Nile.
Overnight: Bahir Dar
Day 8 – Bahir Dar → Addis Ababa → Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Bahir Dar Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa.
Depending on your international departure time, enjoy additional sightseeing, shopping or a meal in the capital.
Later, transfer to Bole International Airport for your departure.
