The journey passes through agricultural landscapes and mountain scenery before reaching Dinsho, the main gateway to Bale Mountains National Park.
After arrival, take an afternoon nature walk around the Dinsho area. This is one of the best places in the park to look for mountain nyala, Menelik’s bushbuck, warthogs and several highland bird species.
Enjoy the peaceful mountain environment before transferring to your accommodation.

Day 2 – Dinsho → Sanetti Plateau → Ethiopian Wolf Search
After breakfast, drive higher into the Bale Mountains towards the Sanetti Plateau.
The Sanetti Plateau is one of Africa’s largest Afro-alpine environments and reaches elevations of more than 4,000 metres. Its open landscapes are among the best places in Ethiopia to search for the endangered Ethiopian wolf.
Spend time exploring the plateau with your guide, looking for Ethiopian wolves, giant mole-rats, raptors and other high-altitude wildlife.
Weather permitting, stop at viewpoints across the surrounding mountains before returning to your accommodation.
Overnight: Bale Mountains area
Day 3 – Sanetti Plateau → Harenna Forest
Today continue across the high plateau before descending dramatically into the Harenna Forest.
The change in landscape is remarkable, from open Afro-alpine moorland to dense mountain forest.
Explore parts of the forest and surrounding areas with your guide. The region supports a wide variety of birds and mammals and offers a completely different experience from the high plateau.
Enjoy time for photography, short nature walks and wildlife observation.
