Tour Overview

Experience two dramatically different sides of eastern and northeastern Ethiopia on this 9-day Awash National Park and Afar adventure tour.

Begin with wildlife and volcanic Rift Valley landscapes in Awash National Park before continuing deeper into the Afar region towards Asaita and Lake Afrera, one of the distinctive saline lakes of the Danakil Depression.

This itinerary combines wildlife viewing, desert road travel, Afar culture, salt landscapes and one of Ethiopia’s most unusual geological regions.

It is designed for adventurous travellers comfortable with long road journeys, hot temperatures and basic facilities in remote areas.

Because conditions in Afar can change, the exact route should always be reconfirmed shortly before travel.
