Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Gondar → Debark → Sankaber

Meet in Gondar and drive through the highlands towards Debark.

After completing park arrangements, continue towards the Simien Mountains.

Begin walking before Sankaber and enjoy your first views across the dramatic escarpment.

Geladas are commonly encountered in this area.

Trekking: Approximately 2–3 hours

Overnight: Sankaber

Elevation: Approx. 3,250 m

Day 2 – Sankaber → Jinbar Waterfall → Geech

Begin your main trekking day.

Follow the ridge through highland grasslands and descend towards the Jinbar River.

Enjoy views towards the impressive Jinbar Waterfall before crossing the valley and climbing towards Geech.

The Geech area sits at approximately 3,600 metres and is surrounded by giant lobelias and beautiful mountain scenery.

Trekking: Approximately 5–6 hours

Distance: Around 10 km

Overnight: Geech

Day 3 – Geech → Escarpment Viewpoints → Ambaras → Gondar

After breakfast, enjoy a final hike from Geech towards selected escarpment viewpoints.

Continue towards the main road around the Ambaras area, where you meet the vehicle.

Return to Gondar via Debark.
